Ilford Hypam Fixer is probably the most popular BW fixing chemical in the World! It is a non-hardening and extremely fast working fix supplied in liquid concentrate that is diluted for water for use. It is convenient to use across a temperature range of 18°C to 40°C with all popular BW papers and films in manual and machine processing applications. It can also be used for fixing other specialist products and graphic arts materials.

Dilutes as 1+4 for film and 1+9 for paper. The fixing agent in ILFORD HYPAM FIXER is ammonium thiosulphate, it contains no sodium thiosulphate (hypo).

Generally, this fixer can be used without creating the need for a fixer hardener. However, HYPAM can be made into a hardening fixer for Black & White films. For most applications modern camera films are sufficiently hardened when manufactured for most processing circumstances so the general use of a fix hardening agent is no longer recommended. The use of ILFORD HYPAM HARDENER is only recommended if:-

i) The film process temperature is above 30ºC (86ºF)
ii) Poor film drying performance is being experienced
iii) Shorter film drying times are needed e.g. if a roller transport processor is used
